Los Angeles, California – Retired NBA star Rasual Butler and his wife, singer Leah LaBelle, were killed January 31 at approximately 2:30 a.m. Their Land Rover reportedly hit a curb and three parking meters on Ventura Blvd. near a Marshalls Store in Studio City. While reports indicate the car occupied by the married couple was moving at a high rate of speed, local business owners told reporters that the curb has been the scene of a number of accidents because it may be difficult for drivers to see how sharp the turn is at that corner. Mr. Butler was a star player for a number of teams during his career, including the Los Angeles Clippers, the Chicago Bulls, and the Miami Heat. Ms. Butler, an R&B performer, was a contestant on the third season of “American Idol.”
