Youxing Zhang has been identified by authorities as the victim in bicycle collision that occurred in Oakland on May 15. Mr. Zhang, an 83-year-old local man, was riding a bicycle on Highway 24 prior to 3:00 p.m. He reportedly went from the side of the highway and crossed into the second late, where he was struck by a Toyota Prius that was traveling at approximately 60 mph, according to the driver, who apparently told the California Highway Patrol that he was unable to stop in time at that speed. Mr. Zhang died at the scene. The incident is under investigation.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
