William Hester, 73, has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run collision that occurred on October 1 in McClellan Park. Mr. Hester was walking with his wife, Deborah Hester was crossing at the intersection of Arnold Avenue and Palm Street at around 9:00 a.m. on their way to dental office. Authorities allege a speeding vehicle charged towards the couple. Mr. Hester apparently pushed his wife out of the path of the vehicle, but was struck by the vehicle himself. The driver of the vehicle reportedly fled the scene. Mr. Hester perished from his injuries at the scene. A dark colored Chevrolet pick-up truck is being south as the California Highway Patrol is investigating the tragedy.
