Waynette Hunter has been identified by authorities as the deceased in an automotive collision that took place in East Oakland on April 26. Ms. Hunter, a 29-year-old Oakland resident was a passenger in a Honda Civic being driven MacArthur Boulevard prior to 3:40 a.m. by a 25-year-old woman, also from Oakland. Meanwhile, a Nissan minivan had been traveling westbound on MacArthur Boulevard before attempting to turn southbound on 98th Avenue. As the driver of the car, 20 and also a resident of Oakland, tried to turn on to 98th Street the two vehicles collided. Ms. Hunter was gravely injured in the crash and died at the scene, while the two drivers were injured and taken to area hospitals. Witnesses are being sought in the tragic mishap.
