Thomas Shane Pinto has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run DUI collision that occurred on July 31 in Ontario. Mr. Pinto, a 22-year-old local resident, was riding a bicycle on the westbound side of Mission Boulevard near the crossing with Baker Avenue prior to 1:10 a.m. when he was hit a vehicle allegedly driven by another Ontario resident, 31-year-old Julio Tapa. The bicyclist was declared dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Mr. Tapa allegedly left the scene but was found not long after with injuries and front-end damage to his vehicle. He has been charged with multiple offenses including DUI and vehicular manslaughter. The Ontario Police Department is investigating the tragedy and seeking out witnesses.
