Thaily Gutierrez has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in a car collision that occurred in Turlock on October 12. Ms. Gutierrez, a 17-year-old student at Turlock High School was a in a car in the westbound lanes of Angelus Street. The driver of the car came to a stop sign, reportedly stopped, but apparently failed to check for ongoing traffic. The side of the car Thaily Gutierrez was sitting on was struck by a vehicle described as an SUV. The girl was rescued from the auto by first responders and taken for treatment at an area hospital, but died from her injuries. The driver of the car was also taken to an area hospital. The people in the SUV were apparently unhurt in the collision. The case is under investigation.
