Tamera Elaine Flynn has been identified by authorities as the deceased in an automotive collision that took place on December 10 in Gerber. Jarrod Loyd Flynn was badly injured. Ms. Flynn, 37, and Mr. Flynn, 36, were in a Ford pickup truck on Old Highway 99 prior to 5:45 a.m. near Rodeo Avenue. A Honda Civic driven by Fernando Leon, a 21-year-old Corning resident, was heading in the opposite direction was apparently trying to pass on the two-lane highway and the vehicles collided, then leading to another collision with a Chevrolet pickup. While reports indicate that neither of the Flynns were wearing seatbelts, air bags apparently prevented them from being ejected. First responders took both of the Flynns to St. Elizabeth Hospital by air, but Ms. Flynn tragically died from her injuries. Those in the other vehicles received minor injuries. The police are not alleging a DUI but the collision is being investigated.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time.
