Rosie Figueroa has been identified by authorities as the deceased in an alleged hit-and-run car collision that took place on December 20 in Salinas. Ms. Figueroa, a 38-year-old local resident, was driving a Toyota Camry on Davis Road during the evening when her car was hit from behind by a Mazda 6, driven by 18-year-old Carmel resident Jacques Clarke, allegedly traveling at an excessive rate of speed. The force of the collision cause the Toyota to veer off the street, hitting a tree. Ms. Figueroa died at the scene while a female passenger was taken to an area hospital badly injured. Mr. Clarke was charged with DUI and related crimes. An investigation remains underway.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this very difficult time.
