Romeo Mendez-Lopez has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a two-car accident that occurred on January 25. Mr. Mendez-Lopez, a 40-year-old resident of Richmond, was a passenger in a Honda that reportedly attempted to overtake a Chevrolet driven by 40-year-old Jesus Morales. It collided with a Ford which was driven by 57-year-old Esparto resident Bonnie Zentner. The Ford then hit the Chevrolet driven by Mr. Morales. First responders to both the driver of the Honda and Mr. Mendez-Lopez to a Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville, but the passenger succumbed to his injuries. Ms. Zentner also suffered injuries, authorities say. An investigation is ongoing.
