Rico Edwards, a 14-year-old Temecula resident, has been identified by authorities as the deceased victim in rollover accident that occurred on September 25. The boy’s mother, Terrina Edwards, 39, was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and has been charged with multiple felonies. The victim, his mother, and an unidentified 16-year-old female were driving southward on the Interstate 215 in a 1998 Toyota 4Runner shortly after 8:30 p.m. The driver then reportedly lost control of the vehicle and the SUV overturned several times. . Rico was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle and was killed. The teenage girl in the back was wearing a seatbelt and survived with light injuries. Ms. Edwards was seriously injured and the charges against her include child endangerment and vehicular manslaughter.
