Richard Lane has been identified by authorities as the victim in a deadly collision that occurred on April 13 in Modesto. Mr. Lane, a 59-year-old veteran of the Air Force who had become homeless, was reportedly sleeping in the parking lot of a thrift store belonging to the Salvation Army located near the intersection of La Loma Avenue and Yosemite Boulevard. Witnesses reportedly told authorities that the driver of the car briefly stopped and left the vehicle, but then quickly returned to it and fled the scene. Mr. Lane was taken to an area hospital with multiple injuries and passed away from them on May 11. On June 5, alleged perpetrator Raymond Hanson was arrested in Ceres on multiple charges.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
