Phillip Allen Luckert has been identified by authorities as the good Samaritan victim in a motorcycle and big-rig truck collision that occurred on September 5. Mr. Luckert, a 68-year-old resident of Modesto was riding a 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle on Highway 120 at about 11:50 a.m. when he pulled over to assist another motorcyclist on the shoulder. After the other rider was able to leave the scene, Mr. Luckert attempted to pull into traffic. Tragically, a big-rig tractor-trailer being driven by Eric Roen, a Knights Ferry resident, was pulling a bulldozer behind Mr. Luckert and collided with him. First-responders attempted to save the man, who was wearing a helmet, but he very sadly died at the scene. While a DUI is not suspected in the case, an investigation into the accident continues.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this very difficult time.
