Paul Rotondaro, a Cal Fire captain and married father of a teenager and an infant, has been identified by authorities as one of two fatalities in a head-on collision that occurred on October 2 in Gustine. Captain Rotondaro was driving a Ford Ranger on State Route 140 at about 7:00 a.m. when he collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was attempting to pass a slow moving car and crossed the double-yellow line into the other lane. The Ranger was engulfed in fire and both drivers perished at the scene of the tragic collision. The driver of the third vehicle, a Crown Victoria, and a passenger suffered minor injuries. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
