Patricia Coombes has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred August 6 in Chico. Ms. Coombes, 92 and using a walker, was crossing Yosemite Drive and Idyllwild Circle at about 7:30 a.m. when a vehicle driven by 55-year-old motorist Jiang Junda was turning right at, authorities say, about 10 mph. Reports indicate that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities and that glare may have been a factor. Nevertheless, Ms. Coombes died at the scene from her injuries. The tragic case is being investigated.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
