Oscar Portillo has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a two-vehicle head-on collision that took place in Palmdale on February 1. Mr. Portillo, a 39-year-old local resident, was driving a Nissan Frontier on 170th Street East at roughly 8:20 p.m. At that point a Dodge Ram pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction veered into the Nissan’s path. Mr. Portillo died at the scene, reports say. A passenger, a 29-year old who was also from Palmdale was severely injured and hospitalized at Antelope Valley Hospital. The other driver, 60-year-old male resident of Llano was also seriously injured and taken to the same hospital. The California Highway Patrol is investigating and seeking witnesses.
