Marlene Lorenzo, a 14-year-old Los Angeles student, has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a tragic pedestrian accident that occurred on the morning of April 4 in South-Central Los Angeles. Ms. Lorenzo was walking to middle-school with her 12-year-old sister, Amy Lorenzo. Reports indicate that the two youngsters were crossing with a green light at the intersection of 37th Street and Broadway Place prior to 8 in the morning, when a truck turned onto the street and struck the two sisters, who were later dragged by the vehicle before it finally stopped. First-responders rushed the children to medical treatment. Marlene Lorenzo succumbed to her injuries while Amy Lorenzo was still in treatment for critical injuries. While the driver reportedly stopped and cooperated with authorities, the incident remains under investigation.
