Maria Pelayo, age 69, and Refugio Salas Olague, 63, have been identified by authorities as the deceased in a devastating big rig truck accident that took place on July 1 in the vicinity of Hanford. The two Corcoran residents as well as an 80-year-old male who survived the crash but was seriously injured, were in a Chevrolet Suburban on Highway 43 prior to 8:00 p.m. A Freightliner semi began to make a left turn in the path of the Suburban, which crashed into the side of the truck before, authorities say, Ms. Pelayo was able to stop. Police are investigating the tragedy.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and families of the victims during this difficult time.
