Marcelino Alfredo Escober has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that took place in Alhambra on April 25. Mr. Escober, a 40-year-old local resident reportedly, was apparently attempting to cross Garfield Avenue at the intersection with Shorb Street when he was struck by a vehicle prior to 7:50 a.m. Newspaper reports indicate that, according to witnesses as well at the driver of the vehicle, Mr. Escober walked into traffic without stopping to look or yielding. While the driver of the vehicle is not suspected to have a DUI, police are investigating whether or not the victim may have been intoxicated at the time of the tragic mishap.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
