Leonard Ortiz, a 48 year-old crossing guard for Lugonia Elementary, has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run collision that occurred on October 16. The moped was on Colton Avenue in Redlands at roughly 6:30 in the morning when the moped and its driver were struck by a vehicle, which is apparently unknown by authorities.  The vehicle is believed to have fled on the nearby 10 Freeway. The deadly collision is currently under investigation.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time.
