Leonard Mompeller has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a collision that occurred on March 5 in Palmdale. Mr. Mompeller, a 35-year-old reportedly from Nekoosa, Wisconsin, was driving a vehicle described as a black GMC pickup truck on State Route 14/Antelope Valley Freeway prior to roughly 2:55 a.m. The GMC struck the back end of a big-rig truck which reportedly dragged the smaller vehicle after it became stuck inside of it. Mr. Mompeller died at the scene. The big rig appears to have left the scene as the California Highway Patrol is seeking out witnesses and asked the public to be aware of a big rig truck with major rear-end damage.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased victim during this difficult time.
