Jose Olguin has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a deadly collision that occurred on December 4 in Costa Mesa. In the aftermath of the crash, Bernardo Alvarez Zalpa was arrested on charges of felony hit-and-run. The incident reportedly began at approximately 6:00 p.m. when Mr. Zalpa allegedly drove his Honda Accord across several lanes of traffic. A 2017 Mini Cooper was struck first, but the Accord continued driving onto an adjoining area, where it collided with Mr. Olguin’s 1997 Toyota 4Runner. The car turned over and Mr. Olguin was declared dead shortly afterward. Mr. Zalpa’s Accord continued driving until he was apprehended by police. The driver of the Mini Cooper suffered minor injuries. The deceased, Mr. Olguin, was a 48-year-old Orange resident.
