John Picard has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a car collision that occurred on April 15 in the Mojave Preserve. Mr. Picard was driving a Jeep in the preserve prior to 2:30 p.m. when the driver apparently lost control and the vehicle rolled off the side of the road. An unharmed passenger escaped the Jeep and was able to stop vehicles in search of help. First responders arrived but Mr. Picard died at the scene. The California Highway Patrol in Barstow is investigating the tragic accident. Mr. Picard was 68 and a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada.
