John Lakkas has identified by authorities as the deceased in a single vehicle collision that occurred in Long Beach on October 20. Mr. Lakkas, a 42-year-old resident of Oyster Bay in New York State, was a passenger in a new model Infiniti Q50S being driven by a 35-year-old male prior to 3:40 a.m. Authorities allege that the car was driving at a high rate of speed when the driver veered off the road, striking a tree. The passenger was reportedly ejected as the car split in half, killing him. The passenger was taken to an area hospital but from his injuries the next day. The incident remains under investigation by Long Beach police.
