Rickie Motley and Jesse Donald Gluyas have been identified by authorities as the victims in an alleged DUI accident involving a large tractor-trailer truck  that occurred on February 7 in Orcutt. Mr. Motley, a 60-year-old resident of Orcutt and Mr. Gluyas, a 24-year-old Solvang resident, were both in one of five vehicles that were waiting at a traffic signal on Highway 135 at approximately 6:30 a.m.  A large tractor-trailer carrying produce was allegedly being driven by a driver who was under the influence of alcohol and other substances. The truck crashed into the smaller, stationary vehicles, killing Mr. Motley and Mr. Gluyas at the scene. First responders provided assistance to 10 other people, including the truck driver. He was taken for medical attention and arrested on a DUI charge. The incident is under investigation.
