Jamila Habib, a 72-year old resident of Marysville, has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred in Yuba on February 21. Ms. Habib was crossing the street when driver Virginia Castaneda, 45 and another resident of Marysville, attempted to turn left after stopping at a stop sign but apparently failed to see the older woman who was crossing in front of he. While authorities reportedly do not suspect a DUI, Yuba City authorities were reportedly considering possible criminal charges in the case.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
