James Radzik has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run DUI pedestrian collision that took place in Claremont on January 8. Mr. Radzik, a 50-year-old Rancho Cucamonga resident, was on Towne Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by Helen Scheuplein, a 67-year-old resident of Covina, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Mr. Radzik’s body was found by members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department who were passing by the scene of the tragedy. Police allege that the woman fled the scene of the accident and was located the next day at the High Brow Bar in Pomona just before 6:00 p.m. Ms. Scheuplein is reportedly in police custody on two vehicular manslaughter charges with $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned early next week.
