Helen Gomez has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that took place on April 15 in San Marcos. Ms. Gomez was crossing Smilax Road with her dog, when she was struck by a car. The driver of the car continued driving and did not stop to help, authorities charge. First responders eventually found the woman lying in the road. She was taken to nearby Palomar Hospital but perished from her injuries. The 14-year-old dog was uninjured. Authorities are seeking a silver car with significant damage in the front area. Ms. Gomez, a San Marcos resident, was 61-years-old.
