Heather Martinez has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged DUI hit-and-run pedestrian accident that occurred on June 28 in Fresno County. Ms. Martinez, a 41-year-old Fresno resident, was driving on the 180 Freeway prior to 2:30 a.m. when she pulled over to the side of the road and got out of the car. At the same time, Ms. Rodriguez, 32, was driving an older model Toyota when, police say, the car hit and killed Ms. Martinez. The driver of the car allegedly fled the scene without trying to help the victim. When police located Ms. Rodriguez, they determined that she had been driving under the influence and arrested the woman on multiple charges. The investigation remains ongoing.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
