Heather Maciel has been identified by authorities as the victim in a bicycle collision in the wake of a police pursuit with a murder suspect that occurred on May 29 in Tulare. Ms. Maciel, 44, was riding a bicycle in the vicinity of Blackstone Street and Prosperity Avenue at some time around 7:00 p.m. Meanwhile, Barry Tarrell Dantzler was being pursued by police after allegedly killing a woman named Heather Sloan in Visalia. Police say that Mr. Dantzler’s car struck a utility pole, causing the car to rollover a number of times and then struck Ms. Maciel, tragically resulting in her death. Mr. Dantzer was arrested on multiple charges as the investigation continues.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
