Gerald David Fruichantie has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred in Canyon Country on August 12. Mr. Fruichantie was apparently walking across the Golden Valley off-ramp of the 14 Freeway when he was struck by a Honda Accord. Authorities say that the driver of the car attempted to evade the man, but was apparently unable. First responders arrived but the man, a 61-year-old homeless individual, reportedly died shortly thereafter. The incident is under investigation.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time.
