Gennady Bolotsky has been identified by authorities as the victim in a pedestrian collision that occurred June 17 in Valley Village, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley section of Los Angeles. Mr. Bolotsky, an Holocaust survivor who had recently celebrated his 91st birthday, was crossing the street while walking his dog on Wilkinson Avenue close to the Magnolia Boulevard intersection just after 5:30 a.m. Reports indicate that surveillance video shows Mr. Bolotsky being struck by a white pick-up truck with a camper shell; the truck briefly stops and then runs over the victim and flees. Authorities also believe a witness saw the alleged crime and left the scene without trying to help or calling authorities. The grandfather was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away. An investigation is ongoing and witnesses are being sought. A $50,000 reward is being offered by police.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
