Garrett Pontier has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a collision involving a big-rig tractor-trailer truck that occurred on March 31 in Hesperia. Mr. Pontier, a 22-year-old Apple resident and an off San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy, was driving on the I-15 in Hesperia at roughly 1:30 a.m. when his 2003 Honda Accord apparently veered into another lane and collided with the truck. The young deputy died at the scene of the crash while a male passenger, a 21-year-old Rancho Cucamonga resident, was severely injured and airlifted for treatment. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the tragic accident.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time and our thoughts go out to the injured young man.
