Elvira Zuniga Valencia has been identified by authorities as the victim in a truck collision that occurred on July 30 in Madera County. Ms. Valencia, an 82-year-old Los Banos resident, was a passenger in a GMC SUV being driven by 59-year-old Maria Barajas-Gonzalez, also of Los Banos. The GMC stopped at a stop sign at the corner of Road 28 ½ and Oregon Avenue prior to 11:45 a.m. It reportedly then entered the intersection where it was hit by a Peterbilt semi driven by Caleb Jeremiah Vogel, a 26-year-old Mariposa resident. The force of the crash killed the elderly woman. The tragic accident remains under investigation.
