Daniel Hernandez, a 19-year-old Lake Elsinore resident, has been identified by authorities as the victim in a car versus skateboard collision that occurred on June 12 in the Riverside County city. Mr. Hernandez was riding a skateboard in the bicycle lane on Palomar Street prior to 11:00 p.m. when he was reportedly struck from the rear by a vehicle that has not been described. Reports indicate that the driver fled the scene after slowing down for a very short period. Bystanders contacted authorities and first responders arrived. Mr. Hernandez was taken the Inland Valley Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly afterward. Riverside County Sheriffs are working to locate the vehicle that struck the young man and are seeking out witnesses to the tragedy.
