Charles Mentzer has been identified by authorities as the victim in an alleged hit-and-run bicycle collision that occurred on August 23 in Sunland, a Los Angeles neighborhood.  Mr. Mentzer, a 55-year-old resident of nearby Tujunga, was riding a bicycle headed westward on Foothill Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle described as a white Prius that may have been heading west as well. The impact sent the motorcyclist into a parked car while the Prius failed to stop or provide help of any kind. First responders took the severely injured Mr. Mentzer to an area hospital for treatment, but he died from injuries on September 3. As per City of Los Angeles policy, a reward of as much as $50,000 is being offered in connection with the tragedy.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
