Celia Flores Orozco, Jose Valdez Orozco, and their 5-year-old grandson have been identified by authorities as the deceased in an alleged DUI collision that took place in Montclair on February 8. Ms. Orozco, 67, her husband, Mr. Orozco, 65, both residents of Pomona, were in a Nissan sedan with their five-year-old grandson shortly after 10:30 p.m. at the crossing of Ramona Avenue and Howard Street. With Ms. Orozco at the wheel, the car collided with a 20-year-old Ford Explorer SUV. The driver of the SUV was Hugo Javier Rodriguez Rios, a 32-year-old resident of Garden Grove. The married couple died at the scene. Their pre-school age grandson was rushed to an area hospital but very sadly passed away from his injuries on February 11. Authorities charged that Mr. Rodriguez Rios was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and are holding the driver, who survived serious injuries, in Rancho Cucamonga at the West Valley Detention Center. He has been charged on multiple counts of gross vehicular manslaughter on a $1 millon bail. The Montclair Police Department is investigating and seeking out witnesses to the very tragic collision.
