Catalina Esteves, 17, has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a traffic collision that occurred on May 5 in Moreno Valley. Ms. Esteves was a passenger in a late 1990s Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Jose Angel Perez, 18. They were accompanied by another passenger. The Tahoe was heading eastward on Gilman Springs Road at roughly 11:00 a.m. when it collided with another vehicle under circumstances that have not been fully disclosed. However, the SUV rolled over several times, reportedly throwing both Ms. Esteves and the other passenger from the vehicle. The teenager was taken for treatment at an area hospital but tragically died. The condition of the other passenger is not known though the individual appears to have been hospitalized. Mr. Perez received mild injuries but is set to be charged for an allegation of driving under the influence.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
