Bernardo Valdez has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a three-car collision that took place in Escondido on January 31. Mr. Valdez, a 28-year-old local resident, was driving a Subaru WRX at or near the intersection of Harmony Grove Road and Wild Willow Hollow Road at around 7:45 a.m. when he collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander driven by Ardeshir Tooraji, a Carlsbad resident who is also 28-years-old. He was carrying three additional individuals in the car. Mr. Valdez’s car overturned, partly thrown from the car, resulting in injuries that caused him to die at the scene.  Meanwhile, a second accident occurred when the Subaru collided with a Toyota Prius. While the occupants of the Toyota Highlander were not seriously injured, two others people appear to have been. The tragic mishap is being investigated by authorities.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this very difficult time and our thoughts go out to the injured.
