Arthur Appleby has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a head-on motorcycle collision that occurred in Palmdale on October 11 after 7:00 in the evening. Mr. Appleby was riding his motorcycle on State Route 138 when a Dodge Durango heading in the opposite direction moved into the opposite lane, colliding with the motorcycle. The force of the collision threw the motorcyclist into a fence. First responders say the 55 year-old Lancaster resident died at the scene. The driver of the Dodge, 23 year-old Abigail Lua, suffered minor injuries and was treated. Authorities say that they do not currently believe that driving under the influence was a factor, but the incident is under investigation.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time.
