Allyson Buist, a 35-year-old resident of San Luis Obispo, has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a two-vehicle collision that occurred on September 10 in Goleta and which also hurt four people, including one child. Ms. Buist was a passenger in a Toyota Tundra pickup on Highway 101 when a Ford pickup truck that was in the process of turning left onto Las Varas Canyon collided with the Toyota. Both pickups left the road. Ms. Buist was taken to a Santa Barbara hospital but tragically died from her injuries five days later. A four-month old baby in the truck was fortunately not injured though 35 year-old Austin Buist, the driver of the Toyota, may have suffered relatively minor injuries. The driver of the Ford, 33-year-old Arizona resident Garrett Staab and 43-year-old Covina resident Tony Koehl also suffered non-life threatening injuries. The reason for the collision is under investigation.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time.
