Algetta Strother has been identified as the deceased in an alleged DUI and street-racing related car accident that occurred in San Bernardino on June 8. Ms. Strother, 54, was allegedly racing her son, 26-year-old Steven Strother Jr. prior to 10:15 p.m. The woman was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe, while her son was at the wheel of a Buick Century driving at high speed on 9th Street. The two cars were apparently in the process of trying to pass a Toyota Camry when all three cars collided. The collision caused Ms. Strother to be ejected from her car and killed. While a passenger in one of the cars was injured, the three occupants of the Toyota were reportedly uninjured. Mr. Strother was determined to be under the influence at the time of the crash and DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges were filed against him. The investigation continues.

We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time. Our thoughts also go out to the injured individual.
