Alfred Perales Castellanos has been identified by authorities as the main victim of a deadly collision on the day of September 27 involving a number of automobiles on the 5 Freeway South.
A 2017 Dodge Ram truck driven by Robert Snow, 36, rear-ended a Ford Edge that had stopped behind two other vehicles at a high rate of speed. Mr. Castellanos, a 57 year-old resident of Lakeport, was inside the Ford Edge and later died from his injuries. The Edge was pushed into the car in front of it, a Ford Fiesta driven by Richard Root of Carmichael, who sustained non-life threatening injuries. The driver of an additional stopped vehicle, Lakehead resident Elizabeth Karns, 58, was arrested by authorities on suspicions of a DUI after fleeing in her a Cadillac. Mr. Snow, the driver of the Dodge Ram, was not believed to be under the influence. The accident is under investigation.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the victim during this difficult time.
