Aldagracia Cruz-Penaloza has been identified by authorities as the deceased in a pedestrian collision that occurred on March 27 in the Orange County city of Costa Mesa. Ms. Cruz-Penaloza, a 42-year-old Tustin resident, had been driving with her 18-year-old daughter at approximately 4:45 a.m. when her car, a Toyota, was involved in an accident with another vehicle that did not involve any injuries. While she and the driver of the other car were standing behind the car, another car, an Audi, reportedly struck both Ms. Cruz-Penaloza and her Toyota, which then entered another lane and was hit by a fourth vehicle, a Chevrolet, driven by a 33-year-old San Juan Capistrano resident, who suffered non-serious injuries. The driver of the Audi which apparently killed the victim was not injured, authorities say. The daughter of the victim, however, was injured and hospitalized. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the tragedy and seeking out witnesses.
We extend our deepest condolences to the friends and family of the deceased during this difficult time.
