Santa Clarita, California (January 22, 2018) – A head- collision resulting in a death and three injuries occurred on the 17th near Golden Valley Road and Dorothy Street. The head-on collision killed one of the drivers, Matthew Thibodeau. Thibodeau is believed by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to have made a sudden left-hand turn against a red traffic arrow, when his white Honda Civic crashed into a Toyota Siena. Mr. Thibodeau, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The CHP says that it appears that a combination of alcohol and excessive speed may have been the cause of the collision. The male driver of the Siena and his daughter, three years of age, were injured and taken to the hospital. A passenger in the Civic was also transported to the hospital. The injuries have been characterized as moderate to major.
